Atopic dermatitis (AD) is susceptible to S. aureus colonization which exacerbates this disease. AD has reduced expression of cathelicidin (Camp) and b-defensin (Defb) antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) compared other inflammatory disorders but the these AMPs still higher in than on normal skin.
